Stories from Our Land Vol. 2 – Finding Home (2013 | 10 min), by Nyla Innuksuk

This short chronicles filmmaker Nyla Innuksuk’s emotional journey to Nunavut to connect with the land of her ancestors and with her Inuit father, whom she has not seen in over 20 years. Nyla’s return to her Igloolik birthplace culminates with a lesson on lighting a qulliq, the traditional Inuit oil lamp.

Indigenous 150+: a film and conversation series dedicated to putting Indigenous voices centre stage. Presented by NationTalk and Good Influence Films in partnership with Asinabka Film and Media Arts Festival, SAW Video and the Ottawa Art Gallery.

Participating in a post-screening conversation will be series creators Jennifer Podemski, and Kris Nahrgang, who is an artist, archeologist and the Chief of Kawartha Nishnawbe First Nation, and Executive Producer and Co-Host of Future History. More information here.
